Using Your Love Languages on Yourself

We all give and receive love differently therefore knowing where you fall on the 'love language' spectrum can boost healthy relationships (romantic or otherwise). The relationship you have with yourself is the most important relationship you will ever engage in so practicing love languages on yourself is essential. Below is tips and tricks on how to apply the five love languages to self love.


Words of Affirmation

In this sense, affirmations refers to the words you speak over yourself. Self-love mantras are a great way to boost self-love and you can either say these aloud or write them down in a journal. You can either create personal affirmations or find ones here.




Quality Time

Quality time can look like spending time with yourself alone or doing things you love with yourself. If you love going out to eat, try a solodate, if you love going on holidays, try a solocation.


Gifts

Gifts are a great way to reward yourself once you have reached a goal. These gifts do not have to be extravagant; it can be something small like a chocolate.


Acts of Service

If acts of service is your primary love language things like cooking for yourself and cleaning your room are examples of ways to take care of yourself.


Physical Touch

Mediating or massaging yourself are ways to express love through physical touch on yourself.


In essence, the above tips should not only be applied when you are feeling down but should be integrated into your daily routine. Practicing these can increase your overall self-love.
