Most of us were never taught how to communicate but without this important skill you may be handicapped in an intimate relationship. Not being able to express yourself and listen to your partner, your relationship is probably doomed. Improving you and your partner’s communication skills can help you establish a loving, respectful relationships.
Why is communication in relationships important?
Communication allows you to explain to your person what you are experiencing and what you needs are and expectations are. Communicating can also help you and your partner connect.

Communication is not a one-way street. It requires effort from both/all parties involved.
Communication is not only about talking, its also about listening.

Non-verbal communication
Non-verbal communication involves the things we don’t say but rather what we do. It includes tone of voice, facial expressions, eye contact and overall actions. It is important to make sure that your actions and words are aligned.

While most of us were not taught how to communicate, it is not to late to learn. You can improve your communication by:
Building companionship: this can be done by sharing more – sharing experiences, interests and concerns while also showing affection and appreciation.
Create a safe space: Both parties involved has to ensure that the other party feels comfortable enough to communicate openly and honestly.
